La Nucia

La Nucia is a municipality in the Valencian Community in the province of Alicante, in the region of Marina Baja. It is located in a fertile quiet valley, just 10 km from Benidorm connected by the Mediterranean Highway that connects to Alicante. This town arises in the middle of a picturesque valley covered with fruit trees and pine forests, sheltered by the Sierra de Aitana. It also allows you to enjoy the innumerable attractions offered by the interior and the coast of the region of La Marina Baja Alicantina. La Nucia is known for organizing every Sunday on Avenida Porvilla, one of its main streets, a large market for second-hand objects. Their festivities in honor of the Immaculate Conception, which take place in mid-August, and the San Rafael festivity in November also enjoy great recognition.

Among the places to visit is the old town, a walk through this area is pleasant at all hours, starting with the laundry room and take the courses marked by the best decorated balconies, until you reach the town hall square where the church of the town. Climate and population in La Nucia

The climate in La Nucía is warm and temperate, showing an average annual temperature of 17ºC, which makes it the ideal climate. The Aitana and Aixorta mountains protect the town from the winds from the North and are lucky to be between the sea and the mountains. The population of La Nucia is around 20,000 inhabitants (according to INE) made up of 40% foreign nationals, mostly of British and German origin.


The economy of La Nucia is currently based on tourism and traditionally on high altitude agricultural activity, mainly almond, olive, citrus, medlar and persimmon crops. This town is preferred by foreigners for its tranquility and relaxation and is evident in the high number of residents of the European Union (EU), who contribute considerably to the economic growth of the region.
